For children ages birth to rising kindergarteners. This program is designed to help children read 1,000 books before they enter kindergarten and encourage life-long reading habits. Once you've earned enough points, you'll receive a completion certificate you can print and share!
This program is ongoing, so you do NOT need to read the 1000 books during the summer program to get your certificate...but of course you can, if you want! (That would be about 13 books a day.) Keep a tally or a list (either on paper or digitally) of any books you read to your child. You can ask for a tally sheet at the Youth Services Department at the library or print one here: https://1000booksbeforekindergarten.org/resources/
Every re-reading counts (and is good for literacy development) so be sure to include those. Happy reading and memory making!
All Together Now! Let's get reading this summer!
Kids age 5 to 11 can sign up to track and review the books you read this summer while earning digital badges and unlocking games to play.
Complete the program by earning 1000 points by the end of summer for bragging rights and a Certificate of Completion.
This program is designed for teens age 12 to 17 to encourage life-long reading habits. Once you've earned enough points you'll receive a completion certificate you can print and share!
This program is designed for kids age 0 to 5, who have not started kindergarten, to encourage life-long reading habits.
This year we will be using the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. This program's mission statement is to "read a book--any book--to your child, with the goal of reading 1000 before Kindergarten." This program is ongoing, so you do NOT need to read 1000 books during the summer program to get your certificate...but of course you can, if you want! (That would be about 19 books a day.)
Keep a tally or a list (either on paper or digitally) of any books you read to your child. Every re-reading counts (and is good for literacy development) so be sure to include those. Happy reading and memory making!
